The
Markets Work Group (MWG) focuses on the design and operation of the
Midwest ISO’s (MISO’s) markets. Using the expertise of staff from
the regulatory commissions and consumer councils from the 15 Midwest
Member States and Manitoba, the MWG examines issues and develops
comments that, after OMS approval, advise MISO and/or FERC of OMS
views on ways to achieve proper market design that ensures
reliability at reasonable rates.
Currently the MWG is concentrating on MISO’s Ancillary Services
Markets. MWG members participate in various MISO subcommittee and
work group meetings, such as the Revenue Sufficiency Guarantee (RSG)
Task Force. The MWG also looks to the MISO Open-Access Transmission
and Energy Markets Tariff, Business Practices Manuals and other MISO
documents that dictate the design and operation of MISO’s markets.
The MWG monitors and keeps the OMS apprised of developing issues and
the timelines for potential OMS action.
MISO
and stakeholder proposals to develop or refine market initiatives
are vetted and discussed at MISO Market Subcommittee (MSC) monthly
meetings and at the meetings of the various MISO work groups that
report to the MSC. MWG members participate in the MSC and related
MISO work group meetings.
